The Speaking Heart

If only our hearts could speak

Men will think twice before releasing words

Fathers will listen more to their children

Mothers will be mindful of what they say

Bosses will take their time when addressing issues

Society wouldn't haste to judge or speak for or against

If only our heart could speak

Our pain would easily be seen

Our stories will glare like the billboard ads

Our anger will consume our nemesis before we say jack

Our assumptions and beliefs will be either smiling or frowning at us

Our bodies and minds will heal quickly

If only our hearts could speak

Maybe our sacrifices will be recognised

Maybe our hard work will be seen

Maybe people will understand our actions

Maybe people will appreciate why we decided to be alone

Maybe men will understand why we are reserved

If only our hearts could speak

If only our hearts could speak

We wouldn't struggle finding the right words to express how we feel

We wouldn't struggle saying what we have longed to say

We wouldn't fear telling our stories and sharing our experiences

If only our hearts could speak

Maybe we would have been treated better

Maybe we wouldn't be seen as 'useless'

Maybe we wouldn't be the outcast

Maybe we wouldn't be the ones always getting it wrong

If only our hearts could speak, not to ourselves but to the world, then society will do better

Then each person’s emotions will be considered

Then perhaps society will heal and push each one to be better and overcome the challenges, fear, trauma or pain.

Our mouth maybe shut but our heart is speaking

Listen to your heart and imagine what the heart besides, in front, behind or far from you may be thinking or wishing.
