THE GOD OF 2022

The mornings of the last month comes with dusty clouds, people coughing here and there

The streets flooded with people buying and selling for the yuletide comes

People travelling to the place they call home, fun, get-away or just a hideout

Businesses welcoming you with their dotted lights of many colours

Parks and roundabouts, stand-still, beautifully decorated for a festive season.

Alas! Christmas is beckoning and the year is gradually coming to an end.

From the get-go, everyone wondered if the year would be as fun as it was last year

The year was a lot to swallow

It came with its wallows

Gifts weren’t seen as before

Rather, messages of hope, goodwill and Love

Moreover, that is what the season is about, the Love of God.

Now let’s have the year in recap

 I believe we all had diaries filled with inks of new plans

New decisions, practices and ideas to start with

Definitely, you said to yourself “this is the year”

But, did you see these plans manifest?

We began the year with all hopes and joy

With our hearts eager to witness and enjoy

The year was going well

On New Year’s Eve, we danced farewell with gladness, to excel

We made promises to give our all

We made promises to dwell in His presence

We made promises to grow in Him.

Along the line, life happened

Stories changed

Miracles happened

Good things started

The Joy of seeing friends graduate, some gain admission

Families receive a new gift (baby), new marriages, new contracts, and new jobs.

The year was finally beginning to look like our year.

In the midst of all the Joy and hope,

The wind started blowing

The clouds gathered

The rains came

Yet the sun was up there keeping watch

Things changed, we had a lot to battle with.

The world was in chaos,

Leaders started finding solutions

Disturbed, we thought of the next step

We kept speaking, asking questions and finding our own solutions

We failed, we cried, our mental health was on the line

We were not ready to lose the little we had

We blamed everyone but ourselves

Gradually we lost focus

We thought of how to survive without considering our Help

We had strategies on how to make things better, forgetting our strength isn’t enough

We had plans to succeed but each day our plans were unfruitful

Things got hard, they were difficult,

We lost loved ones, we lost family, and we lost things we achieved for years

We forgot our secret place, our rock

We wallowed in our worries

But as a Father, you never left us

You brought us people, stories, testimonies

You flashed us back to where we were and where we are now

Ha! We saw it

We came to the realisation of how good you have been

We realised we had days that were worse but at your feet, we smiled at all storms

So why did we forget who we are?

Sometimes, just sometimes, we get carried away by the pressures of this world

Indeed the Lord has been good

As the year 2022 was coming to an end

Things got shaky; we all said this Christmas is not a time to have fun

But look at us travelling, making merry, sharing what we have, and laughing

It may not be what we expected yet it’s better knowing our God of 2022

He was there

He was there through people.

When we felt insignificant he was Amazing

During our rough seasons when we felt inferior, he reminded us of how Beautiful we are

The world was cold to us but he was and is Compassionate

We relied on people who disappointed us but He was Dependable

We looked far thinking we lost all but He showed us how Eternal He is.

You are always Faithful

There were times we were stubborn, but you were good to us

And as we fell and couldn’t rise you came as our Helper and lifted us

We call you Immanuel for you are with us

The one who has been Just with us

People didn’t entirely open their hearts to us but your Kind heart did

There is no mistake everyone calls you Love

Your Love showed us Mercy

Through your mercy, you draw us Nearer each day

Getting to know you we call you our One true God

The one who gives us Peace in the midst of all storms

The one who Qualifies us

Our God of 2022

The One who Restores us

The Shepherd of our soul

Our Truth

Always Understanding

And seeing us to Victory

Yeshua you are Wonderful

Xtraordinary you are

Our Yahweh

You are indeed our Zion

Our God of 2022 you have been everything Good

You are indeed Our God of 2022
