Intentional Yet Blind
5 September 2025

I wish I had got the documents signed
Why should the roads be blocked this early Monday morning?
Why are the streetlights off today?
Why was this flight cancelled after all these preparations?
Why has my child fallen ill on her first day at school?
Nothing makes sense.
Why is this driver loading when I am running late for work?
Why am I heading this project? I should be leading the second; my capacity is more than what I have been given.
Why was he chosen over me after all these 10 years of slavery
Why did she give me this? What's its use?
Been in any of these situations before?
Truth be told, the bus driver delaying a trip is one of the worst feelings
It's concerning to miss a flight when it took months to obtain a visa.
Having a child fall ill on their first day at school is worrying
The street light going off on your sudden arrival is just too weird
Receiving the least of the contract, and your subordinate receiving what you deserve, cuts deep
Receiving less of what you deserve makes you think twice about humanity
They are all troubling
In these moments, we scream, we curse, we cry, and we question our life choices.
We hate, we groan in pain, we lament, we hoard so much anger
We stop being productive, we change our joy and act as everyone else, we don't go the extra mile, or should I say the 'I cannot kill myself' syndrome, becomes our garment
In the midst of all these happenings, nothing looks positive
Nothing looks like an opportunity
No privilege is seen
No saving grace
No Joy
No peace
But, wait, as the Gen Zs will say, 'take a chill pill…'
You have a source, right?
You pray to Him and speak to Him
You ask Him for direction
You always tell him to order your steps
You ask for deliverance
You seek protection
You pray against death
You seek promotion
You desire to stay in His will
You write all his plans for you so boldly on your walls
Psalm 91 echoes each time you step out
He is your refuge, your fortress
The God you trust.
But is your trust a limited version, or is it everlasting?
Is this Trust a belief or a daily walk
Is this trust letting go, or hoarding
Is this trust making you see him to discern, or is it clouded with many voices?
Is this Trust bold or timid
Is this Trust ever ready to accept or ever ready to deny itself
When we trust, we lay our lives down to pick up the life of the other
The system of believing, the system of faith, the system of loyalty
We see from that which is invisible
We correct without knowing the challenges ahead
We just keep trusting.
When all these things happen, we forget we gave our lives to Him who is intentional about us.
An intentional Father who protects us from facing the challenges He knows we can't handle
An intentional Father who takes away the danger so that we don't see what happens behind the scenes.
An intentional father who fulfils his part of the trust, but we never get to fulfil our part.
We are often blinded by our desires; thus, we do not see His love
His intentionality sometimes comes sweet, other times sour, and more times bitter.
We think the bitter aspect always has to do with the enemy, so we curse and don't even enquire of him.
Yes, the enemy does arise and fight against you because He has made it known to us that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood.
But, he has given us power to overcome the devices of the enemy
However, in some situations, he makes some things happen to reveal his glory
He makes some things happen to save us or deliver us, although they may look worrying
He makes some things happen to save us and draw us back to him
What if missing a flight meant a deliverance or an assignment to save someone who was coming to the airport the next day?
What if the lights going off was to save you from an impending danger
What if your child falling sick was to caution you about a particular path
What if the roads were blocked for God to spend some time with you and for you to escape the collapse of a building
What if… What if… What if… God is drawing your attention to help someone?
He has been intentional.
He has always been
But we are blinded by the pressures of life
We find ourselves choked with thorns
We do not grow in our faith and live for Him
So in the face of all these, we don't discern his will
If only we could pay attention
If only we could walk faithfully with him
We wouldn't be blind, and his intentionality will glare in our face
Pause, go back to the drawing board, grow in faith, discern, think twice, know His will and see His intentionality.
See his love. Don't be blinded.
